"Golden Gate Suspension" ~ The two cables that gracefully suspend the bridge deck are 36.5 inches in diameter and measure 7,650 feet long between anchorages. Each cable weighs 11,000 tons. Notice the yellow light lenses. When the original 1937 fixtures were modernized in 1972, these lenses were designed to mimic the yellow glow of the old lamps.
"Schooner Sunset on the Bay" ~ Sightseers aboard a classic schooner watch the sunset beyond the Golden Gate Bridge as beautiful shades of violet and peach fill the sky.
"Band of Sea Lions" ~ A small band of sea lions made their home on Pier 39 just after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. In the Fall of 2009 the population ballooned to a record high of nearly 1600 sea lions.
