"Venice Palina" ~ These candy-striped mooring poles in Las Vegas are replicas of the "palina" found in the Venice Lagoon in Italy. Striped palina are a 6-Century old tradition, and more than 90,000 of the palina can be found throughout the canals of Venice. Aging wooden poles in Venice are now replaced with plastic poles in order to reduce maintenance costs.
"San Marco Arcade" ~ The arched arcade of the Las Vegas incarnation of Venice's Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace). Note that the authentic Palazzo Ducale in Italy does not feature lighting such as the cast iron lanterns shown here.
"San Marco Colonnade" ~ Columns and arches form the ground floor arcade along the façade of the Las Vegas incarnation of Venice's Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace). Coincidentally, even the authentic Palazzo Ducale in Italy has 19th century copies of the original capitals from the 14th century arcade.
