A beautiful raven showing off in Yellowstone's Hayden Valley. Some Native American tribes believe that ravens symbolize danger has passed and that good luck would follow.

Birchwood Farmstead
Beyond the red timber bridge that stretches over the River Coe in the Scottish Highlands, the old farmstead of Ach'nam Beithach (the Field of Birchwood) sits at the northwest base of Aonach Dubh (Black Ridge) as a waterfall-teemed stream tumbles down then alongside grazing sheep.

"Power of Vernal Fall" ~ After a moderately strenuous hike up the Mist Trail in Yosemite National Park one Spring day, I was greeted by a waterfall that instantly became my favorite waterfall that I've ever seen in person. And I've seen a lot of waterfalls! Vernal Fall is only 317’ high, so it's not the tallest waterfall I've seen. But, with the landscape that it's set in along with a power that is unmatched in my previous travels, I was immediately in total awe of Vernal Fall. The power of the falls really made an impression on me, so I felt a close-up shot isolating the falls was the best approach. Indeed, this is probably my personal favorite waterfall photo that I've taken.

Tetons & Snake River
Every fan of Ansel Adams stops at this viewpoint in the Grand Tetons National Park to see the spot where he captured one of his most famous shots. The exact framing is no longer possible due to tree growth, but this was my best attempt at honoring his greatness.

"43-1/2 Meeting Street" ~ Charleston, South Carolina is a fantastic city to wander around in on foot and discover curious architectural details such as these intricate wrought iron gates with "1/2" in the address. In older cities, the U.S. Post Office used to assign fractional addresses to accessory dwellings which shared a parcel with a main dwelling, such as carriage houses that were converted into separate living quarters, as large houses that where converted into duplexes, or as narrow lots were subdivided. If you're lucky on your downtown walking ventures, you may even come across a rare 1/3 address!
