"Telegraph Hill Deco" ~ An electric telegraph station was constructed in this location in 1853, giving Telegraph Hill its name. The 210 feet tall art deco tower was designed by architects Arthur Brown, Jr. and Henry Howard in honor of Lillie Hitchcock Coit who had bequeathed one-third of her estate to the City of San Francisco for beautification endeavors.
