The gardens were first opened to the public in the 1870s, but some sections of the gardens are more than three centuries old. I took this photo one beautiful Spring day during the usually brief Azalea blooming season. The best part about looking back at this photo, though, is that I no longer have to swat the mosquitoes and gnats!

In older cities, the U.S. Post Office used to assign fractional addresses to accessory dwellings which shared a parcel with a main dwelling, such as carriage houses that were converted into separate living quarters, as large houses that where converted into duplexes, or as narrow lots were subdivided.
