PhotoRaconteur > "Magnolia Bridge" ~ After living in Charleston, South Carolina for seven years and visiting the historic Magnolia Plantation & Gardens many times, this is my favorite photo of one of the seven picturesque bridges located on the grounds. The gardens were first opened to the public in the 1870s, but some sections of the gardens are more than three centuries old. I took this photo one beautiful Spring day during the usually brief Azalea blooming season. The best part about looking back at this photo, though, is that I no longer have to swat the mosquitoes and gnats!

$PhotoRaconteur > "43-1/2 Meeting Street" ~ Charleston, South Carolina is a fantastic city to wander around in on foot and discover curious architectural details such as these intricate wrought iron gates with "1/2" in the address. In older cities, the U.S. Post Office used to assign fractional addresses to accessory dwellings which shared a parcel with a main dwelling, such as carriage houses that were converted into separate living quarters, as large houses that where converted into duplexes, or as narrow lots were subdivided.
